Carbon Graphite Solutions

Problem:  In remodeling an existing basement, the owner had requested head-room not be reduced and that the column spacing be extended from 10 feet to 20 feet.

Solution:  Installation of two layers of 4" wide 406,000 PSI tensile strength carbon graphite.  This was installed after pre-chambering the beam for load transfer.  Total deflection upon loading was 1/16 inch.  One hour fire rating was installed to surface.
